At ACE Provision we support children from all ages and abilities. As schools follow their own programme of study the children that attend the provision can be at various stages of a curriculum. We therefore focus on "core learning" which is a focus on the key ideas required in English, Maths and Science that are essential to deep understanding that allows more complex learning to build on.
At ACE Provision we support the whole child; well-being, soft and social skills are incredibly important but learning and making progress must go hand in hand to support the opportunities of the child for the future. Through STEM learning (resources) we teach Maths and Science that is problem-solving focused and reinforces topics in meaningful contexts. They are independent of any single exam-board, while relevant for all Core Maths/Science qualifications.
The core subjects are delivered by a trained teacher with over 20 years experience with a speciality in Science and the STEM subjects.
PSHE stands for personal, social, health and economic well-being and in 2020 the Government made it compulsory to also delivery RSE (relationships and sex education) as part of the PSHE curriculum. We at ACE Provision are members of the PSHE association pshe-association.org.uk/ and use resources to teach, discuss and debate topics such as media and digital literacy, bullying and discrimination, growing and changing, relationships and sex education, mental and physical health, money and careers, community and responsibility.
With a focus on our values of responsibility, resilience and respect PSHE and RSE teaching and learning is an important part of developing the children at ACE Provision.
PSHE/RSE is delivered by an experienced teacher with over 20 years experience in delivery.
The British values are expected to be promoted and highlighted in educational establishments; these values include democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
This allows development of understanding of the following:
How citizens can influence decision-making through the democratic process;an appreciation that living under the rule of law protects individual citizens and is essential for their well-being and safety.
An understanding that there is a separation of power between the executive and the judiciary.
While some public bodies such as the police and the army can be held to account through Parliament, others such as the courts maintain independence.
An understanding that the freedom to choose and hold other faiths and beliefs is protected in law.
An acceptance that other people having different faiths or beliefs to oneself (or having none) should be accepted and tolerated, and should not be the cause of prejudicial or discriminatory behaviour.
An understanding of the importance of identifying and combating discrimination.
These values will be promoted within the PSHE sessions but also tackling points when they arise within conversations throughout the day.
